Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Defence has published the Draft Ferozepur Cantonment Building Bye-laws, 2026 for public information. The draft proposes a comprehensive framework governing building construction, plan approval, development standards, and regulatory compliance within the Ferozepur Cantonment area.

The following has been stated:

• The draft Bye-laws prescribe detailed definitions, building terminology, planning standards, and development regulations applicable to construction, alteration, re-erection, occupancy, setbacks, floor area, building height, land use, and other technical aspects of buildings within the Ferozepur Cantonment.

• The draft introduces an online building plan approval process through the e-Chhawani portal, requiring eligible applicants to obtain prior sanction from the Competent Authority before undertaking any construction, addition, alteration, or re-erection. It also prescribes application procedures, applicable fees, development charges, documentation requirements, scrutiny of plans, validity and revalidation of sanctions, and conditions for refusal or revocation of approvals.

• The draft further provides incentives for rooftop solar installations and rainwater harvesting, mandates prior security clearance for constructions affecting military establishments, prescribes completion and occupancy certification procedures, and provides for regularisation of unauthorised constructions in accordance with the Cantonments Act, 2006 and the proposed Bye-laws.
